It's actually really hard to find a long white maxi dress after Labor Day so I would go ahead and try to find one. With any luck, you can get one that you'd wear for something else other than initiation if you're that frugal and don't want to just get one just in case you need it.

Unless it's for a dance most ritual dresses need to be as long as your finger tips. This will be a dress you wear all four years.
White is a must. Most houses do not allow cream or blush so dont waste your money.
A black dress is a must.
A cute halloween costume... Will be needed several fun things too.

Don't invest in a long white dress until you know for sure if your chapter requires one.
