why would you want to leave the rich North and go to the poor, poverty stricken city of Tuscaloosa??? I recommend you reconsider your idea of going to Bama. The South really is a POS.

are rich...don't come to the South. No one is rich here. Everyone is living off 'old money', which is drying up real fast.

Housing is cheap
Taxes r low
Lots of extra money in south

You can buy a mansion for just 600k so it's all relevant.

People can't leave the south because their southern money can't afford anything in the north. A 600k "mansion" will buy you a studio apartment in nyc.

First ct is the wealthiest state in the country so any of the top 30 zip codes by wealth are gonna be wealthier that any in alabama. Same thing with NY. Long Island, westchester county ny , Fairfield county ct, and hartford county ct are gonna have some of the wealthiest people in the country. That being said, KD and similar houses don't really give af if you have more money than all of them combined.
It's all about Montgomery mountain brook and mobile. Any girls they take from
Up north are few and far between, not to mention prob legacies.

Maryland and Virginia are the richest. Especially NOVA. All of the politicians and influential attorneys, business CEOs, etc. who wish to influence politics live there.

As someone on a recruitment team, where you live only matters if someone working on the team/in the sorority is from that area and can vouch for your wealth based on your zip code

Alabama is number 4 on the LEAST WEALTHIEST states list so that should give u a clue. Unless u live in Mississippi, Arkansas, or West Virginia, then ur wealthier than 95% of alabama

Are you talking about sororities or fraternities? You never specified. And going into rush with thinking money is your strong quality is not going to help. Yes, many old row and especially first circle sororities have members with a lot of old money, but its old money, meaning they look down on being obvious about it. Talking about money will def be blamed on you being a Yankee and just not understanding how that's tacky. I'm not saying you have the mind set because I can't tell either way in your posts, but in case you do it won't help you. Just go in with an open mind and be yourself. I'm sure you will Find a good house and like UA!

Hello hmm,
Every sorority has a giant map in its chapter room that shows county-by-county incomes. Prior to rush, we go over that map and compare it to the rushee's zip code. If the income level doesn't meet our standards, she's placed in a particular room during rush and is not moved from that room. That night, we drop her from our invitation list.

Do you believe this? Of course not!

Decisions are based on grades, activities and honors and looks, but frankly, the no. 1 is how much we like you.
