How hard is it to get a top tier bid out of state?

Not as tough as you would gather on this site.. Every year some houses tell the rushes, "don't rush over there, you can' t get a bid.". Sure you can, it is done every year.

I was visiting a house and they all kept telling me how a certain fraternity wouldn't even consider me because I was OOS, wasn't a legacy, etc. I ended up getting invited to a rush party at the certain fraternity they told me wouldn't look at me and am going to another one in the future. Honestly it felt like they were trying to discourage me just so I wouldn't even try looking.
