Does it have anything to do with the actual house location?

For sororities it means nothing. It has NOTHING to do with length of time on campus. It is a group of houses that are sponsored (currently budweiser). Many of the older houses nationals do not allow sponsorship by any alcohol companies. Fraternies it means something different.

Don't even worry about it until after rush. There's no reason to do so because it'll just get in your head and affect your choices.
