This is sooooo true! It's true that most of our top houses are ones that don't do well nationally and some of our bottom houses are national powerhouses. A Phi, Gamma Phi, and Theta are all top national houses. That being said, there is value in all our houses and those on top can't look down on those that are perceived to be on the bottom. The whole "ranking" system seems so middle school to me since everyone has different values and different preferences. It's like ranking pizza toppings. Is pepperoni higher ranked than canadian bacon or sausage? Is cheese in a separate category? What about black olives v. onions v. green peppers? Which is higher ranked? That's how sororities are. It's all in your preferences. Girls you went to hs with? Girls from oos? Girls that study? Girls that party? Blondes? brunettes?

Alpha Phi and Gamma Phi are good nationally, but they aren't the very top by any means. They might be slightly stronger than KD and Phi Mu nationally overall, but neither are terribly strong in the South, especially Gamma Phi, and both KD and Phi Mu are stronger in the South (not just Bama). AXO is probably comparably strong Alpha Phi and Gamma Phi nationally. DDD, Kappa, and XO are all powerhouses in the South and nationally, and all three are bigger nationally. Theta, Pi Phi and DG are all basically top nationally, but Pi Phi tends to be fairly middle tier in the South outside of Texas schools and a couple of randomly assorted SEC/ACC schools. Theta is very spoty in the South outside of Texas schools with several very bottom of the bottom chapters in the SEC. DG is very strong in the Western US and Midwest, as well as Mississippi and Florida schools, but they're also hit or miss in most of the South. DDD, Kappa, and XO are national powerhouses that tend to be strongest in the South. AGD is probably the lowest profile of the old row houses nationally, but they're still by no means a bad house nationally. If the top houses were like TPA, ASA, AST, SSS, and PhiSS, that'd be much weirder.

Kappa is top tier at half of the schools in the SEC, every Texas school, and a lot of the ACC. Saying they aren't a Southern powerhouse is ridiculous.

Is lower-mid to terrible at Auburn, FSU, UF, Kentucky, UNC, South Carolina, and Tennessee. They also have a closed chapter at Mississippi State. I wouldn't call that a "Southern powerhouse" compared with Chi O and DDD.

AXO is very weak nationally, as are PM, ADP, and DG. All very weak nationally.

I just looked. Nationally AOII is largest. Then Chi O. Then Gamma, then Theta, then DZ.

Hey Bama....since you guys mentioned other SEC schools thought I'd jump in...most of our chapters are 450-500 girls. XO (founding chapter is very strong), KKG chapter is the largest in the country and very strong, Pi Phi is one of their top chapters nationally (3 Balfour awards in last 5 yrs), DDD is strong, ZTA is one of their top chapters and is the oldest in continuous existence. KD is up and coming, Phi Mu and AXO just rechartered. AOPi has been around less than 10 years and is OK....ADPi has 400 girls but just doesn't seem to move up. DG and Theta both left in the 90's. We're supposed to get 3 new sororities in
the next 3 years.
You guys have a great Greek system and I'm sure all of your chapters are great! BTW.....BEAT AUBURN!!!!

ZTA at Arkansas isn't their oldest continuously active chapter -- they were closed during WWII. Oldest is at Tennessee, which also has the oldest continuously active chapters for AOPi and Phi Mu.

it is so stupid to talk about "national" rankings -- there isn't any such thing
