pledge parties cancelled?

by:

Our older girls just told us Dr. Bonner cancelled all pledge parties for the rest of the semester. Supposedly something happened at the SAE Phi Mu pledge party that upset the administration. Does anyone know if this is true, and if it is, what happened at the party?

I heard a girl got alcohol poisoning and her daddy is on the board of trustees so that's why pledge parties are "banned". If you think that's going to stop them from happening then you're just plain dumb.

So you are saying everyone will just look in the other direction and the Greek drinking parties will continue? Good thing she didn't die. Then there would be lawsuit after lawsuit. Oh, and lastly, you are just plain dumb.

They DO NOT need to just keep on happening. If the administration finds out about one, not only will it put the fraternity and sorority involved at risk, but it could jeopardize the entire Greek system with cancelled pledgeship, etc.

Pledge parties are not university sanctioned events so they were never allowed in the first place as far as the university was concerned.

Is because pledges can now get their whole house in trouble when the police become involved. Typically a few MIPs to pledges wont hurt a house very much. But now the police are cracking down and bringing more pain to houses from the university. Our new boys are still having pledge parties, just not as often as before. As long as they are at a good off campus house, and no one acts like damn fools it will be easy to still have them

Pledge parties aren't even supposed to be "discussed". They are and were originally intended to be secret "off campus" Greek parties for pledges, the actives aren't even supposed to "know" or participate in them. How can she ban something that UA has no control over? Exactly she can't.
