low gpa but other attributes

I just went thru open house rounds and they all went pretty well. I had a lot of really positive conversations and it felt pretty natural. however, I do have a 2.7 gpa coming out of high school. high school was a rough time for my family and my grades just weren't where they needed to be. however, i did get a department award senior year and even was able to send an academic exception email.

is gpa huge at kentucky?

do i have a chance of moving forward and possibly getting a bid?

It’s good you had good conversations! It’s tough having a GPA you don’t want because of unexpected circumstances. Houses will look at it, but that should not scare you away. While some houses may cut you, If they truly believe you’re a strong fit for them, exceptions can be made. Otherwise, study hard there’s other opportunities to join such as COB

Be specific when telling chapters why your gpa was so low. Have a compelling reason. But wait and see what you get back. You never know.
