sorority initiation rituals?
by: UmmmmI haven’t heard about any crazy sorority initiation rituals here, but I recently heard adpi makes you get naked in front of your whole pledge class to initiate... is that right? Who else does what so I know where to stay away from during rush next year??

No sorority would have anything in their rituals that could be considered hazing. National organizations are meticulous about how initiations are performed to make them special and memorable for each member! I guarantee no matter where you go initiation is fun and exciting and nothing to worry about

Gamma Phi Beta ΓΦβ Initiation Secrets "Knowledge is the light of life" is the secret motto of Gamma Phi Beta and it is never to be written or spoken above a whisper. The 3 letters, ΓΦβ, each represent a Greek Word. Gamma is the initial letter of the Greek word "gnosis for "Knowledge" or "education"; Phi is the initial letter of the Greek word "philios" meaning "love" or "friendship"; Beta is the initial letter of the Greek word "bios" meaning "life". When combined it forms the secret motto and signifies Gamma Phi Beta's core values of "Love, Labor, Learning, and Loyalty". Essentially— that education and friendship constitute the basis of a full and happy life.
"Love In ΠKE" is used as a signature when corresponding with other initiated Gamma Phi Beta members. Instead of just saying love you, Gamma Phi's write this acronym to express the importance that they are more than just friends; they are sisters in love and light.
The Crest has many individual components, including the Oil Lamp of Wisdom, Signature Book, Crescent Moon, Greek letters and Pink Carnations.
The Greek Oil Lamp of Wisdom on the top of the crest represents the fire or light these women have for Knowledge and Education.
The Book in the upper right of the Crest represents the 'eternal book' where every sister signs her name to be initiated into the halls of Gamma Phi Beta.
The Sorority symbol (bottom right on the crest) is the Waxing Crescent Moon which represents the growth of the Sorority's membership on the chapter and international level.
Underneath the crest, a ribbon displays the Greek letters separated by four dots "•Γ•Φ•β•" for the four founders.
The 3 Pink Carnations with 4 leaves represent the 3 stages of Sorority Life (Pledge, Active, Alumni) and the 4 leaves represent the founders.
The secret handshake is completed by each sister extending the right pointer finger onto the other sister's wrist.
On the Gamma Phi Beta Badge, one of the 'symbols' is the Hebrew word "ארבע". This is the Hebrew word for "four". Representing the four founders (Helen M. Dodge, Frances E. Haven, Adeline Curtis, Mary A. Bingham) of the sorority the Hebrew alphabet letters read from right to left, ALEPH DALET VET AYIN. The non-Latin characters in the mark transliterate to "ARBA" and this means "FOUR" in English.

The White Initiation Robe worn during the Initiation Service symbolizes humility and light. White leads us on our way to knowledge - our quest to learn more about the meaning of Gamma Phi Beta.
The Gamma Phi Beta colors of light brown and dark brown symbolize the sunlight and shadows of life. They signify the allegiance of the sisterly love that multiplies our joys and divides our griefs.
The white Fillet is worn only by Initiated Sisters during the Ritual Initiation Service. It symbolizes devotion to principles and ideals through unobstructed vision. The blindfold is worn by initiates or "Neophytes".
During the mystic circle in closing exercise, the last initiated member of the most recently initiated new member class is the last to stand at the open end opposite of the chapter president. The mystic circle is an open circle; signifying the immortal circle of the sisterhood. A symbol of eternity and all those who have come before and have yet to come. Each one counts herself loyal to the faith. The Chapter President raises her left hand to extend to all sisters who have come before.
When a member wishes to speak during the meeting and only initiated members are present, she says this to address the president, "Madam Presbyta".
Our signature of IIKE, symbolizing our signature has this meaning: faith and goodwill "Pee-stee keh ev-knee-uh"
What is the significance of the sign and countersign?
The sign means that things of the spirit are not talked about, but are lived. The placement of the hands in the countersign symbolizes that we lock our secrets in our hearts and the circled arms signify completeness.
The handshake is completed by putting one pointer finger each on the other sisters' wrist.
The knock is 2 knocks, 1 knock, 2 knocks.
This is the significance of our open motto: Founded On A Rock... What is that all endeavors of worth that are to ensure must be built upon a firm foundation.
This Hebrew word, Arba, written on the Gamma Phi Beta badge, is symbolic of the founders and complete growth
The Chaplet (crown) of pink carnations is worn by the chapter president during The Processional and The Pinning Ceremony, symbolizing noble achievement. Those who rest on spiritual teaching for guidance are crowned with noble achievement.
The crescent moon of our sorority always faces to the left because the left-facing waxing moon is a new moon at the start of the cycle and is growing. A right-waning moon is slowly disappearing
The four "walls" surrounding the Temple of Gamma Phi Beta (during initiation service) are the Request for Admission, Processional, Tableaux, and Pinning Ceremony. The entrance to Gamma Phi Beta is the door, it signifies the oneness of purpose and stability.
During the request for admission, The Goat Song, written in 1880, is sung. The song can symbolize the taking away of sins and leaving people cleansed, temple building, and wandering singers. In early times the goat was the object upon whos
